Musica Ficta, founded in 2004, is a vocal ensemble dedicated to Early Music, particular music of the Mediaeval and Renaissance periods. It is directed by Somtow Sucharitkul. Musica Ficta sings in one-to-a-part style (two to a part at most). Its first appearance was in a performance of Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli.

The group has been dormant for about a year but is about to make a comeback. On October 25 members will appear in Trisdee's "Baroque Pearls" concert.

The ensemble consists of about six singers and one or two instrumentalists. Potential Musica Ficta members should be able to sing with little or no vibrato when needed and be extremely good sight-readers, with an abiding love for early music. Members must be able to reliably carry a part and able to perform solo. There are a few vacancies. Please contact the Orpheus Choir artistic director for an audition.
